UK merchants using Monek can now connect their merchant account directly to Xero, with every card payment, refund, and settlement appearing in their accounts in real time — no exports, no manual matching, no end-of-month surprises.

What's new

The native integration replaces the previous CSV-export workflow with a live, two-way connection. Once a merchant authorises the link from inside the Monek Portal, transactions captured through any Monek channel — terminal, virtual terminal, Pay by Link, hosted checkout, or developer API — are pushed straight into Xero as matched bank-feed entries, with the gross amount, processing fee, VAT, and net settlement recorded against the correct ledger accounts.

Why it matters

For most small UK businesses, the time spent reconciling card takings against a Xero bank feed is the single biggest accounting overhead each month. Mis-matched fees, split settlements, and refunds processed in a different batch from the original sale all add friction. By writing the data into Xero at the moment the payment is captured — rather than relying on a daily bank export — the integration eliminates the lag and the guesswork.

  • Two-minute setup — OAuth-based, with no developer involvement and no API keys to manage.
  • Itemised fees — each transaction is split into gross, fee, VAT, and net so your Xero P&L reflects true card-processing cost.
  • Multi-MID support — businesses operating several Monek merchant IDs can map each one to a separate Xero organisation or tracking category.
  • Refund and chargeback handling — reversals appear against the original sale, not as a separate negative entry.

Availability

The integration is live now for all UK Monek merchants on standard pricing tiers, at no extra cost. Existing customers can enable it from the Integrations tab of the Monek Portal. New customers can connect Xero during onboarding.

The Monek listing is awaiting final approval on the official Xero App Marketplace and will be discoverable there alongside the other UK acquirers shortly.
